Reloading Brass
Reloading Brass
Reloading Brass for hunting is getting hard to find at times. I have seen people saving brass a lot at the rifle range it is a good way to get it . I used to save just about all the Reloading Brass I bought and as I got more and more into reloading I would just use one kind of reloading brass for each set of bullets I made then when I had enough of one kind of brass I could trade the rest away for other stuff.
Reloading Brass
As I got more experienced and learned precision reloading to shoot long distance like five and six hundred yards. I by then had a friend with a chronograph and we loaded only quality Reloading Brass. How we figured out what the best brass for reloading was is we found the most consistent factory ammo and to do this we bought cases of different .22 caliber rounds and did a lot of shooting and testing the bullet speed for consistent rounds. We found this worked very well and back then we were using federal reloading brass for reloading bullets.
I even bought a bunch of boxes of factory ammo when a store went out of business. The seven mil. was expensive to load for and when I got some at cut rates I took it and hunted with it for three years. I also one a trophy at a thousand yard shoot with the Federal standard rounds.
Reloading Brass
This was a very odd occasion for me because I am not a really good shot. I can shoot good because I worked at it and there is a big difference. The thousand yard shoots I went to were not bench rest style shooting. We did shoot from a bench rest but were only doing this for fun with our hunting rifles and the idea for me was just learn to shoot long range and the ballistics behind it. This is when I had to learn the value of quality Reloading Brass and putting it with precision reloading gear to be very consistent at shooting. This is the time in my reloading that I started to leave a lot of hunters out of the picture because they could not shoot much over two hundred yard shots and I could do one shot kills on a moose at up to six hundred yards. The value of the RCBS reloading equipment and the Rock Chucker press showed up really quick.
